Years 7 & 8
In Years 7 and 8, students study a core curriculum that exposes them to all key learning areas outlined in the Victorian Curriculum. The Junior School curriculum is one that offers a wide variety of subjects to students, in a nurturing and traditional schooling environment.
Year 7
Year 7 students are provided with their own dedicated classroom in our purpose-built Year 7 Centre complete with co-ordinators’ office, lockers and toilets. The Year 7 Centre is like having a primary school environment located within a secondary school setting. Each student is assigned a mentor teacher to support them throughout this transition year into secondary school.
Students complete several year long subjects, including:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities
- Physical Education
- Languages (German)
- Learning for Me (Pastoral Care)
- Visual Arts (ceramics, print making, drawing textiles, visual communication)
- Design and Technology (wood, metal, plastics)
- Sport
Students also participate in some subjects on a semester length basis, including:
- Digital Technologies
- Food Studies
- Music
- Drama
Students have the opportunity to elect to study a musical instrument, which requires a time commitment of one period per week.
Year 7 students are involved in a number of additional activities to strengthen their connection to the College in their first year with us, some of which include: Year 7 Phillip Island Camp, Interschool Sport, the Year 7 Coin Challenge and various form group initiatives and activities.
Year 8
In Year 8 students again have their own dedicated classroom and mentor teacher. They continue to build upon their core knowledge and understanding across a range of subjects as well as having the first opportunity to pick elective subjects. In 2021, the College will commence a building project which will remodel our existing Design and Technology wing into a purpose-built Year 8 Centre and courtyard

- One elective subject per semester (detailed in Year 8 Handbook).
Students again have the opportunity to elect to study a musical instrument, which requires a time commitment of one period per week. In addition, they have multiple opportunities to get involved in the extra-curricular life of the College.
