Student Wellbeing and Engagement Officer – ES 1-3 (Job#1473591)
The Wellbeing and Engagement Officer will work closely with the members of the Student Management Team and the Wellbeing team at Patterson River Secondary College to provide high-level support services to improve student learning outcomes and undertake advanced wellbeing interventions that support students and schools. The focus of this role will be engagement and attendance, supporting students ‘at risk’ and their families.
Responsibilities
• Plan and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs. This will include collaborating with families, other professionals and agencies when appropriate, and managing the associated risks.
• Provide information and feedback to the Sub School teams regarding individual student needs, issues and concerns that will assist engagement in learning programs that can be implemented for students with mental health challenges.
• Will demonstrate skilled ability to maintain appropriate case management records and provide written and oral reports in accordance with DET and school policies and processes.
• Demonstrate leadership and provide professional learning to others, such as teachers and other school wellbeing staff, to build the capacity of the College to improve students’ learning and developmental outcomes.
• Liaise with other Department areas (including Secondary School Nurse and Disability Inclusion staff) and external service providers (such as alternative educational settings, Child Protection, Orange Door & relevant DET departments) with a view to optimise service access for at risk students and where relevant their families.
• Maintain professional competence and continued professional learning, including attending professional development activities throughout the year.
• Meet relevant policies and legislative requirements in relation to student health information and privacy.
• Other duties consistent with qualifications and experience as required

Staff Professional Learning and Support
Patterson River has a strong focus on Teaching & Learning. To support teachers, the majority of our staff meeting time is dedicated to instructional and assessment practices. Patterson River is an established PLC school and is the link ‘showcase’ school for Bayside Peninsula Area. Staff Social Activities and Wellbeing
Patterson River has an active staff association, organising multiple staff social events and activities. Each Tuesday afternoon, the school runs optional Professional Development, Wellbeing and Physical Activities. In addition, the College just completed construction on a $150K gymnasium (weights and circuit training). Staff are able to access this facility for no charge out of normal school hours.
Riding to Work
Our school is connected to several bike paths along local wetlands, train line and East Link. In addition to this, the school is situated close to Nepean Hwy and Beach Rd. The College has a dedicated bike storage and shower facility for staff who ride to school.
