The academic, emotional and physical wellbeing of all students is our priority. To achieve this, we provide a caring and disciplined environment, which emphasises the wellbeing of all students. The School Wide Positive Behaviour framework underpins the work of the Wellbeing Team to support all students.

Patterson River Secondary College has a diverse and highly professional Wellbeing Team, which includes a student wellbeing coordinator, student counsellor, youth worker, mental health practitioner, visiting psychologist, adolescent health nurse and access to the Doctors in Secondary School program.

The College wellbeing team is often the first place many young people and families approach for help. An important role of our Wellbeing Team is also to identify a student’s needs and to make the appropriate referrals or ask for specialist advice or support.
Wellbeing Services include:

  • Short term, solutions focused counselling
  • Referrals to external agencies and community support networks
  • Targeted small group programs
  • Referral to Department of Education specialists for psychological and educational assessment
  • Support and advice for parents and families
  • Access to our Adolescent Health Nurse and appointments with the Doctor form our Doctors in Secondary Schools program

These services complement a range of support options and student wellbeing initiatives provided within the College to cater for individual differences and needs. Wellbeing support at the College is voluntary and based on best practice.
