Student Agency and Engagement Leader

At Patterson River Secondary College, we are dedicated to fostering an environment that supports and inspires our teachers. In 2026, we are looking for a Student Agency and Engagement Leader to lead and coordinate student activities and programs that empower students to be active participants in their school community.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal (Student Operations), and liaising with program leaders and relevant key positions of responsibility, The Student Agency and Engagement Leader has the following key responsibilities:

• Leads initiatives in relation to the established School Wide Behaviour Program
• Leads whole school Positive Class Management Strategies initiative
• Delivers professional learning to staff relating to Engagement and Agency
• Collaborates with relevant year level Program Leaders in response various data sources, such as AToSS, Compass, to develop staff capacity
• Manages the School Values Award Program
• Runs Student Representative Council, Student Leaders Program and other related student leadership activities
• Works with the EXCEL Academic Program coordinator and Program leaders to foster a culture of excellence and high aspirations at the College
• Coordinates student leadership activities such as the Sports Hub, Leadership Camp and assemblies
• Works with the Assistant Principal (Student Operations) to implement and unpack student surveys.

Competencies

• Demonstrated high level understanding of initiatives in relation to student voice and agency.
• Exceptional written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to enable students to demonstrate agency in their learning and school community.

Food Technology Assistant – 0.6 FTE 

Patterson River Secondary College is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Food Technology Assistant to join our growing school. The school may be able to accommodate changes in both the time fraction and the days of duty to suit the successful applicant.

The College has a brand-new Food Technology centre which includes two hospitality rooms, dining room and will shortly be adding a kitchen garden. The vibrant Food Technology department offers a diverse range of subjects running Years 7-12.

Responsibilities the successful applicant will undertake:

1. Purchase food, materials, equipment and supplies as required for all Food classes in store when required.
2. Receive deliveries/collect orders/purchases and confirm that all items were included.
3. Prepare, set up and pack up practical resources, whilst assisting with stock inventory, rotation and correct storage of ingredients.
4. At the end of each lesson check sinks, tidy drawers and cupboards and sanitise benches and splash back. Check all electrical and gas appliances are off and complete all laundry requirements by the end of the day.
5. Deep clean and sanitise cabinetry and kitchen equipment including ovens, stove tops, small electrical appliances, fridges, freezers, benches periodically.
6. Assist teachers with any requests made during practical classes (eg. distributing ingredients, overseeing students measure ingredients, using equipment etc).
7. Maintain gardens associated with the food department and harvest produce to be incorporated into food studies practical lessons.
8. Any other tasks deemed necessary by the head of department.

The successful applicant should have:

• Reasonable skills operating a computer or laptop
• Safe food handling

Senior School Administration Support

We are seeking a motivated, efficient, highly organised person with experience in VASS and Compass data entry to fill the role of administration support for our senior school (years 10-12). The role is full-time and includes a range of functions to support students, families, and level coordinators across the senior school.

Competencies

• Strong administration skills
• Highly organised
• Ability to keep accurate records
• Data entry
• High levels of ICT skills, including Compass, VASS and Microsoft Office
• High levels of confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Tracking of daily roll marking and attendance
• Signing students in & out of school for late arrivals/early departures
• Assisting parents and carers with general inquiries relating to senior school
• Supporting year level coordinators with general administrative tasks, including documentation, Compass chronicle entries and communications
• Organising parent meetings with coordinator calendars
• Enter student results on VASS system
• Preparing key student information for sub school meetings to allow case management of at-risk students
• Organises induction of new students and families into the school (liaising with AP & Sub School Leader)
• Assist Co-ordinators with the preparation and organisation of camps, excursions and activities
• Assist coordinators with the follow up and completion missed SACs
• Manages administrative responsibilities associated with suspensions and student exits.
• Providing administrative support to the general office during times of unusually high demand and to cover absences
• Other duties as directed by the Principal Class.

Integration Aide – 0.8 FTE 

Patterson River Secondary College is seeking a dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic Integration Aide to work across the College in a range of classes. The role is 0.8 over 5 days. Patterson River has a strong culture of Inclusion underpinned by a large team of support staff who work in all year levels across the College.

Staff Professional Learning and Support

Patterson River has a strong focus on Teaching & Learning. To support teachers, the majority of our staff meeting time is dedicated to instructional and assessment practices. Patterson River is an established PLC school and is the link ‘showcase’ school for Bayside Peninsula Area. Staff Social Activities and Wellbeing

Patterson River has an active staff association, organising multiple staff social events and activities. Each Tuesday afternoon, the school runs optional Professional Development, Wellbeing and Physical Activities. In addition, the College just completed construction on a $150K gymnasium (weights and circuit training). Staff are able to access this facility for no charge out of normal school hours.

 

Riding to Work 

Our school is connected to several bike paths along local wetlands, train line and East Link. In addition to this, the school is situated close to Nepean Hwy and Beach Rd. The College has a dedicated bike storage and shower facility for staff who ride to school.
