Junior School

In Year 7 and 8, students study a core curriculum that exposes them to all Key Learning Areas.

Year 7 Curriculum

The year 7 curriculum is one that offers a wide variety of subjects to students, in a nurtured traditional schooling environment. Students partake in several year length subjects, including:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities (History & Geography)
  • PE
  • LOTE (German or Learning Support)
  • Pastoral Care

Students also participate in some subjects on a semester length basis, including:

  • Visual Arts (ceramics, print making, drawing textiles, visual communication)
  • Technology (wood, metal, plastics, food)
  • Sport
  • Health
  • Music
  • Drama

Students also have the opportunity to elect to study a musical instrument, which requires a time commitment of 1 period per week.

Year 8 Curriculum

Students at PRSC study from a range of both year long and semester length subjects to give them further variety and experiences to draw from for their future pathways. For the art and technology subjects students are further broken up into smaller class sizes of 17 students to optimise their learning experiences.

Year long subjects include:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities (Civics, History & Geography)
  • PE/ Health
  • LOTE (German or Learning Support)
  • Art (Visual Communication, ceramics, painting and drawing and mixed media)
  • Technology (wood, metal, plastics, electronics, food)
  • Music

Other semester length subjects that are studied include:

  • Drama

Students at year 8 also meet every morning with their homegroup teacher to provide information for the day and a pastoral environment.
