Our students have the opportunity to participate in a range of camps including travelling overseas to visit our sister school in Lorch, Germany and participating in the adventurous World Challenge trip. These trips have proven a great success in strengthening cross cultural ties in our students.

German Exchange Program

For over 20 years Patterson River students have been participating in a German cultural exchange with our sister school Schaffersfeld Schule, Lorch, a secondary school in a German town just outside of Stuttgart. Every year the students have the opportunity to travel to Germany to participate in a cultural exchange or host a student from Lorch.

Students who travel to Germany get the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and heritage of the country by visiting towns and places of interest as well as experiencing a school program and homestay with a student from Lorch. Many students choose the option of hosting an exchange student and make them welcome in their homes. It is an enjoyable experience to show an international visitor a slice of Australian life, particularly our outdoor lifestyle by the sea, as Lorch is over 500km from a beach! Both travelling to Germany and hosting an exchange student are enjoyable and rewarding experiences that allow students and their families to make memories and friends that will last a lifetime student are enjoyable and rewarding experiences that allow students and their families to make memories and friends that will last a lifetime
World Challenge

Students in Years 10& 11 are offered the opportunity to participate in an adventure expedition run by world challenge. These trips are designed to help students to tap into their own potential, whether it’s within the group or leading it (usually both). With a focus on leadership, resilience and teamwork. Students will experience a world of challenges, from venturing out into barren landscapes, boldly tackling treks, handling budgets, booking accommodation, taking care of logistics right through to contributing to community led initiatives.
In recent years our students have travelled to India and Malaysia to participate in life changing experiences that allow them to return with a global perspective and an enriched view of self and a new found confidence to take on the world.
