College Rules

1. All members of the College community

  • are to respect the rights of others.
  • take responsibility for their own actions.

2. All members of the College community are to behave in such a way as to promote uninterrupted learning.  For example:

  • by behaving appropriately in the classroom
  • by attending regularly
  • by being punctual
  • by being prepared with appropriate materials

3. All members of the College community are to respect the College environment and the property of others.  The following are examples of unacceptable behaviour:

  • graffiti
  • intentional damage to the natural environment
  • littering
  • theft
  • spitting

4. All members of the College community are to obey the lawful instructions of the Principal and staff.
The following are examples of unacceptable behaviour:

  • disobedience
  • out of College grounds without permission
  • substance abuse
  • dangerous behaviour and failure to observe relevant safety procedures

5. All members of the College community are to conform to the agreed dress code.

Sanctions

When breaches of the standards and rules occur, relevant sanctions will be imposed.  These will be in keeping with the College’s expectations that students accept the consequences of their own actions.

Examples of Possible Sanctions are:

  • withdrawal of free time, such as half of recess or lunchtime
  • written work to be completed at home and signed by a parent
  • written and or verbal apology
  • withdrawal of privileges
  • special timetable arrangements or withdrawal from classes
  • yard duty
  • after school detention (24 hours’ notice will be given)
  • disciplinary procedures according to Department of Education and Training

Examples of Possible Support Strategies:

  • parental contact
  • daily report sheet
  • contract
  • referral to a relevant counselor e.g. Student Welfare coordinator
  • community agencies
  • support groups
  • ongoing monitoring of student progress

ENROLMENT AT THE COLLEGE IS AN ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES AND POLICIES OF THE COLLEGE.

* Therefore parents have an obligation to support the school in its efforts to provide a well-disciplined, supportive and educational environment by expecting their children to follow the College rules at all times.
