About us...

Patterson River Secondary College is a co-educational school for students from Years 7 to 12. We have approximately 1050 students who come to us from the neighbouring schools. These include the following main feeder schools - Carrum, Bonbeach, Patterson Lakes, Seaford, Seaford North, Seaford Park, Belvedere. We also enrol students from Rowellyn Park, Carrum Downs, Kananook, Aspendale Gardens, Chelsea, Chelsea Heights, Edithvale and non-government schools in the area.

Within these facilities, the College delivers a curriculum which offers each student the opportunity to extend themselves in all subjects.   The programs are designed to challenge students by creating interest and enthusiasm for their studies, and to allow students to gain skills necessary for them to be successful throughout their secondary education.  

2009 will be an exciting year with the commencement of a building program to construct a state of the art three court basketball/netball stadium with a show court, change rooms and meeting facilities.

As a Year 7 - 12 College, we ensure that our courses throughout the College cater to all students and build on solid foundations. Our V.C.E. (Victorian Certificate of Education), V.C.A.L. (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) and V.E.T. (Vocational Education Training)  courses are extensive and allow students to proceed in whatever area of the curriculum suits them most. 

Students in Years 7 and 8 study a comprehensive course focussing on the core subjects which provides a sound grounding in all key learning areas.Year 9 Centre

We offer essential literacy and numeracy programs as well as a wide variety of extension courses, including the Select Entry Excel Program at Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 providing extension for high achieving students.   There is also an extensive range of co-curricular activities which includes Sport, Music, Productions and a wide variety of clubs.

Our Student Welfare Team and Year Level Co-ordinators are readily available to ensure that any problems encountered are solved quickly and confidentially.

Our College provides its students with the best education in an environment that is friendly, caring and conducive to learning.   The College motto is “Striving for Excellence”, great emphasis is placed on developing an “achievement culture” where success is encouraged and rewarded.

Robbie and Julia (played by Jason Heath and Louise Richards) will be singing up a storm in The Wedding Singer.The musical "The Wedding Singer" was performed at the College on June 16, 17 and 18.  The musical,  based on the movie of the same name, tells the story of Robbie Hart, a wedding singer who falls for a waitress named Julia   Pictured are Jason Heath who played Robbie and Louise Richards who played Julia.  It was an excellent night's entertainment and showcased the many talents of our students and staff.
